Taste of Yummy
Welcome! I’m glad you stopped by. Here at Taste of Yummy, you’ll find recipes from quick weeknight meals to West African cuisine. My recipes are creative, kid-friendly, well-flavored, simple-easy that anyone can make. All recipes are tested by me, my
food critics family and friends.
UPDATE: As of December 21, 2015, Taste of Yummy is officially a Vegan/Vegetarian blog YAY!! See this post for details.
Hi! My name is Tonya, and I’m the author, cook, and photographer behind Taste of Yummy. A few facts about me, I was born in Forth Worth, Texas, I live in Maryland, I’m an entrepreneur, homemaker, homeschooler, I love to cook, I love to eat, I’m an extreme introvert, and I love all things natural.
About My Tribe
I’m married to the love of my life a General Contractor/Builder (lucky me) for our family owned custom home building business. When he’s not building beautiful custom homes by day, he’s a loving husband and Dad by night. He’s originally from West Africa the inspiration behind my West African recipes.
We are the proud parents of four amazing children whom we homeschool through their passions and curiosity. Then there’s Dallas our Boston Terrier when he’s not napping he lurks outside of the kitchen door foretasting his next meal.
Is blogging your full-time job?
No. I created Taste of Yummy as a hobby blog to share family recipes and document our homeschool journey. In full disclose, I needed to free up memory space on my iphone, the picture taking and recipe sharing was getting ridiculous!
Do you accept guest posts on your site?
Awww, thanks for asking some days I feel like I should accept all the help I can get, but, unfortunately, no. Because this our personal journey it can only be told through our lives, experiences, and taste buds. Nor do I guest post on other blogs. Thanks for asking!!!
Why do you homeschool?
Homeschooling has provided us the opportunity to provide our children a customized education that explores their interests, feed their greedy curiosity and allow us (the parents) to have a say in what are kiddos are being taught.
How long have you been homeschooling?
September 2016 will make three years. Yep! We’re newbies on our homeschooling journey.
What camera and lens do you use?
Currently, I use a Nikon D80 (a dinosaur I know) camera with a 50mm/1.4 lens. I will on occasion use a 90mm/2.8 macro lens for up close shots.
What is your posting schedule?
In most cases, you can expect two posts between Sunday and Saturday. I would subscribe if I were you, so you don’t miss a recipe.
Where do you get the inspiration for your recipes?
Family recipes, friends, food blogs, cookbooks, vacation travels, but mostly from experimenting in the lab.
By the way, can I use your photo or recipe on my blog or website?
Thanks for asking!
